I often find it hard to feel "complete" when I do a shorter yoga practice, but this practice was wonderful. The right mix of physical challenge and meditation to allow me to leave feeling strong, calm, and centred. David, as always, your teaching is a gift. Namaste @pranavayu.

Granted I decided to do this in my apartment on a hot evening (it's in the 80s outside), so this got me a bit warm! My thighs were burning, but I kept at it. Felt good. Loved the meditation at the end "rising rising falling falling" was great. I think I'll use that now when I meditate to keep me focused on the present. Thanks David, you're one of my fav instructors on here!

Another great class David. I did this one with my twin 4 yr old boys. Your visualizations are great for children as they learn about themselves. I hope they continue with yoga as they get older, as I am not an expert, but cherish my time on the mat... even if there is noise in the background/

David I just did this practice with my husband after telling him you are now my favorite teacher. He sweated like crazy (summer in Australia) and agrees with me now! Adding this to my favorites as a great 30min thorough alternative. (BTW I actually closed my eyes through much of this, and was able to move and follow along with just your instructions). Thank you.

I have attempted getting into Yoga a few times and have found it frustrating the first couple of times. Since I have started doing your classes though, I am really getting into it. Your instructions help push me to go further and instead of feeling frustrated, I feel relief that I get better with each class! Thank you for sharing your skill!

Hi Melisse,

Thank you! It's great to hear about how you dedicated the energy from you practice.

Forward folding can be a little complex. Some postures like Titibasana require a strong contraction in the abdominals and hip flexors while others such as janu sirsasana might require less, depending on your body and the relative degree of openness that you feel in the pose.

That being said, the hip flexors and abdominals play an important role in many forward folds because they influence the positioning of your sacrum, spinal column and ribcage. To shed light on the subject, I'd recommend that you pick up a copy of "Yoga Body" by Judith Hanson Laster. There's a really good section on "Sacral Counternutation" that delves deeply into this topic.

Ha! Indeed it can. In fact, if savasana tends to turn into "napasana" it's better to sit upright to stay alert. I usually have people lay down at the end of class to bring the heartbeat down and elicit the relaxation response, but both can be accomplished from seated practice as well.

This it the first class of yours I taken. I enjoyed it very much. I appreciate your clear, simple, and metaphorical verbal prompts. I particularly like the forward bend with the cement balls hanging from the elbows and cement bike helmet. I have a question about this forward bend and forward bends in general: should core be engaged? I seem to get mixed signals from various teachers. I enjoyed your invitation at the beginning to send good energy to someone. I thought of a friend with whom there is currently a rift between us. And I LOVED your comment at the end wishing for peace with all SENTIENT BEINGS. Thank you. I look forward to taking more classes from you.

Just had a tough month after surgery and lost a lot of strength in the process. This was a great practice to get me started in getting my strength back. I could feel the pushups and upward dogs become more effortless. Thank you.
