Smile (2005)

Two girls born on different sides of the world, who have lead very different lives from one another, find their paths converging in China. While Katie’s life was blessed with wealth and good fortune, Lin’s life was filled with heartache and suffering. Lin had been born with severe facial defects and was abandoned by her parents as an infant. She was taken in by Daniel who raised her like she was his own. Katie decides to travel to China with the Doctor’s Gift Organization, and discovers Lin. The Doctor’s Gift organization offers to perform plastic surgery on Lin’s face to correct the defects. Lin has been disappointed in the past and is not sure that she wants to run the risk of disappointment again. This beautiful and moving story is based on real experiences from a volunteer with Doctor’s Gift Organization.
