Using the Mantra of New Beginnings, Sa-Ta-Na-Ma, Kundalini Yoga Master Gloria Latham instructs a detoxifying and meditative sequence that will illuminate your inner light. Contraindications: Students with low back pain, spinal injuries or shoulder injuries should be mindful when doing fast or jarring movements, and can always modify the poses by lowering their knees; students with knee injuries or discomfort in the knees can modify by folding their mats in half under their knees, or placing a blanket under their knees for extra cushion; students with knee injuries or discomfort in the knees should not do the squatting sequence, as Gloria suggests.

I loved this practice as part of my detox and worked up a nice sweat. I actually like Kundalini yoga, but I often find that I get cramps in my hamstrings when I do it. They aren't lasting cramps, but do you have any suggestions to avoid them? Do they go away with more practice of Kundalini?

I loved this class as it is perfect for the new year. One commenter said that is was too repetitive. This is a kundalini yoga class not a hatha yoga class. The repetition of movement is to get one out of the body and mind and into the spirit. When taking a ky class it is helpful to shut down your hatha yoga expectations and just go with the movements and mantras. You'll be amazed how good you'll feel.

this class was too repetitive for where I am right now. I went ahead and created my own flow as the video continued. her commentary on new beginnings, however, was a lovely addition to my practice tonight. I might revisit this some other day during the early morning hours. the repetitive movement seems ideal for energizing a tired, sleepy body.

It has been about 15 years since I have practiced Kundalini. I had forgotten just how energizing this arctics can be until today. It challenged me especially with my arms as I am sore from a TRX class that I took yesterday. But, despite my soreness, I finished the video energized in both body, mind and spirit.

Thank you for this practice. The new beginnings theme is exactly what I needed right now. I am in the hospital with my 2 month old for the third time (going on to 3 total weeks of her short life). She is so precious and going to be okay but I am starting to learn that life will never be the same with a special needs child. I look forward to our new beginning and for us to return back to our family.

I just watched the video today because I had done the free yoga class meant for today, but the name of this class brought my attention to check it out fo tomorrrow, because tomorrow is 12-12-12, the preapration for The New Beginning for moher Earth and Human Kind ! It was difficult to go at my own rhythm in this practice with the constant "sa ta na ma" from the instructor. Perhaps a demostration of the movements with "sa ta na ma" and the rest silent so that each person can be comfortable going at their own pace without distraction.

The exercises are good but I can't help feeling put off by her sharp voice. I have tried several times and I wish I could get into it because she has a lot of Kundalini video's but unfortunately I can't helped but feel a little forced sometimes by the abrupt, sharp guidance. Sorry Gloria, it appears our energies are not attuned.
