Mad Cowboy (Howard Lyman) (2001)
Remember the peak of the mad cow disease epidemic? You may also recall a controversy when a former rancher named Howard Lyman appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 1996 and warned viewers of the dangers of mad cow disease and the meat industry. He also encouraged the viewers to avoid eating meat, which prompted a lawsuit filed by a group of Texas cattlemen. Here, he talks to Corinne Edwards about his book, Mad Cowboy, and many of the dangerous and unhealthy practices now in use by the cattle industry, making meat-eating a risky business.
