The documentary I AM is the story of a man who had it all until something happened to make him realize he might have it all…wrong. After a near-death experience, Hollywood film director Tom Shadyac (Ace Ventura) decided to spark a conversation around two rarely asked questions: what’s wrong with our world and what can we do about it?

And so Shadyac traveled the globe interviewing today’s greatest thinkers. And while he may have been filming a documentary, his film reveals a plot twist straight out of a blockbuster movie: scientific proof that we are all connected. By the final scene, it’s clear that while he started out asking what’s wrong with our world, he ended up discovering what’s right with it.

This film is a Spiritual Cinema Circle selection

refreshing and good reminders. I need to look this up why did he say he was dying from an MTBI? no brain bleed or swelling threatening life.. maybe he was suicidal. I have an MTBI and in the worst of times I didnt feel like I was dying ..lost sense ofwho I was..that was hard. and still have double vision in both eyes.. and cognitive reduction..there is hope .. lots of things help MTBI post concussion syndrome..

This movie changed my life. I immediately went and bought lunch for two homeless people I knew I would see & will keep cash & lunch in my car for this purpose & will work on seeing what else I can do about this. I am going through my clothes. Why do I need so many? I am working on being more compassionate with everyone. Thank you so much.

If the words in this movie ring true, why is Gaiam charging people to hear, view and share wisdom? Can you patent wisdom?

Desertflower, posted on October 19, 2014

We do not live in the perfect world you describe where money is not needed. They have yoga instructors, for instance, who must, as you, pay bills and feed their children. They have other employees I am sure that must do the same. And the director of the video and those that worked to put it together also have jobs. We own a business . We cannot afford to give our products away. The same is true for many spiritual leaders. It is not saying do not work or pay your bills. It is saying to wake up and become more connected to others and the world and become more compassionate. If you ( meaning any of us) do this, you will change who you are & your actions can in a ripple affect the world. If everyone did this... the world would change. Namaste Teresa

I saw the below posted on facebook and more recently watched the movie. What's wrong with the world? has been on humanity's mind for some time.

https://librivox.org/whats-wrong-with-the-world-by-gk-chesterton/

'The title of Chesteron’s 1910 collection of essays was inspired by a title given to him two years earlier by The Times newspaper, which had asked a number of authors to write on the topic: “What’s wrong with the world?”. Chesterton’s answer at that time was the shortest of those submitted - he simply wrote: “Dear Sirs, I am. Sincerely yours, G.K. Chesterton”. In this collection he gives a fuller treatment of the question, with his characteristic conservative wit. (Summary by Wikipedia and Carl Manchester)'

As Anne Morrow Lindbergh quotes in her book, "Gift From The Sea" mu mother used to envoutage me not to succumb entirely to defeat, and to be willing to have a sporting fencing match, or a good chess game... she would saay, "Erica it takes courage to remain vulnerable, to quote A>M>L>", mommy would say...I say to you, that took and takes an immence amount of courage and the outcome is the goal, to have courage to remain vulnerable...couer is geart in French...the root of the word and the compliment.

So glad to have access to this quality of film making. I wish Tom Shadyac an endless productive life creating this kind of story.

Thank you! What a wonderful film. Honest about what is wrong, but determined to leave us with the 'feel good' of what is right and the power we all have every day with every little action. From the individual to the global and back again. Beautiful portrayal of mental illness - to have so much and share so little. Great work.

A wonderful documentary connecting all the dots. More stuff does not make you happy. Connecting, and helping people, walking in nature, eating clean, and using your tools that only you have to make a difference in other peoples lives. It does not have to be big, it can be a conversation at the dry cleaner. We are here to connect and learn from each other.
Thank you for making such a great inspirational film.

This is one of my favorite movies ever. I recommend this to anyone who wants to hear about it and some who dont.
I was watching with a friend last night and she said they should play this at concerts or events (instead of a warmup band or introductory speaker)
Probably seen it 4 or 5 times since my first viewing last year, and still get that feeling of compassion at certain parts.

As a side note does anyone know what they call that reflex in the movie. Sounds like they say vega reflex but Im not sure. :)

alexanderskade, posted on January 13, 2014

I have just signed up for this and I am loving what I am learning. THIS I AM is fabulous and it magnifies what I feel and it is something that all should see. I absolutely loved it. John Lennon so correct all you need is love and the sooner that people realize we are connected the better.. Maybe some will stop racing to cut people off only to get the stop light. Fabulous and to see especially at this time of year. Thanks so much for your story Tom and all that are in the film to share theirs.

willax1, posted on November 10, 2013

Wow! OMG! A mind blowing, enlightening, evolutionary, revolutionary Must See film! Who we are, and who we are becoming. Want or feel you need scientific evidence, you will get it here, plus a whole lot more. Thank you Tom Shadyac for sharing your story, and thanks to everyone in the film for sharing theirs.

I am from Australia and this , like a lot of your other content was not available to me. Iam very disappointed that I was not told when i subscribed that this was the case and am thinking of canceling my subscription. What a shame!

Dear Gaiam,

I would LOVE to assist in this little faux pas...I just watched the movie and realized how much the power of love works! As a business woman with experience and understanding of good customer service, I thought it might be a good time to throw my hat in the ring for a job, since I've been seeking work since January! The message of this documentary is SO important, however; for all those who are having technical difficulties, this movie can ALSO be viewed on youtube. Please forgive us as we work to remind us that change can be slow!

For all other readers, I am recommending this movie to my family for our next Bible study, and sharing it with friends. The Bible has become more true and the power of LOVE (GOD) really came forth here...the fact that science confirms it is icing on the cake!

sboritzer, posted on December 7, 2013

Hi there same problem here! We have informed Gaiam of the same issue many times, but no one takes responsibility to improve the situation. We believe we should come as a group around the world to make this clear to them, so that they make all movies available. Customer service is close to non-existing, or null! Some movies cannot be watched even within the United States!
It is not fair for people who travel for extended amounts of time away from the States either. Gaiam subscriptions are being canceled everyday!

I was so depressed today based on the worldly events, feeling so helpless. I started watching I AM and 3/4 thru it I couldn't control my tears. I had a huge emotional release of a lifetime of not understanding....now I totally get it. Now I know what my mission will be when everything comes to a head for the people not awake....to help them....for us all to come together with compassion and love ...... VERY POWERFUL.

Theradiogirl, posted on September 7, 2013

For the last 21 years I have been on the radio, making no money but going every Saturday religiously to the station with the mission of spotlighting inspiring people and providing a format for them to tell just one more person what is good in the world, how to live happier in the world and how to change the world. I have had some well known people, famous people and now have built a reputation that people ask to be on my program. I consider that success. However..some days when I get human and selfish, I lament that I am not famous that I live sometimes check to check, and have not made a cent from doing this but then I think that if once every week when my program is on I can change one person's life I have done my part. It is my passion and I am good at it. The reason I love this movie is that I was validated in what I do because sometimes when I am being human and I focus on my lack of notoriety and money, I just need to know that what I've done and continue to do matters. This movie will be my elixir many days and years to come. It shows us that when we do what we love, when we promote a positive future, and most when we live from the heart we will be happy...Who's happy?...I AM. Thank you.

willax1, posted on November 10, 2013

Thanks for sharing. Although I've not heard of you or your radio show, I admire your dedication and passion. I, too, believe that when we do what we love and live from our heart center we are happy and that we can make miracles and promote a positive, life affirming future.

This evening I was watching this movie and texted my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren 12 and 8 in Costa Rica to sign up and watch "I AM". At that moment they were watching it, all snuggled in bed together. Synchronicity happened. We were watching the same part as well. Yes we are connected...
