Host Jeffrey Mishlove and Peter Novak, author of The Division of Consciousness, discuss the division between the soul and the spirit. In the Western culture, the distinction between the two was lost somewhere between 300 and 500 AC. Novak believes that there are similarities between these non-physical components, but as science has rediscovered them, the spirit has become known as the conscious or the left-brain, and the soul has become known as the unconscious or right-brain.
He suggests that after death, parts of our psyche split and have different destinies, but at some point they do reunite and an afterlife becomes possible. Novak also tells us that in cultures all over the world, there is a lot of evidence supporting that reincarnation and past-life experiences do exist.
