Belladonna (2009)

Only available in Canada, United States

Belladonna is a stylish and mesmerizing love story that spans centuries. Luke has everything but can’t sleep. Burning inside him is another world. He attempts to reach out to his fiancée Katherine, but she is lost in the fever of wedding preparations and is blind to Luke’s unrest.

Then unexpectedly, a beautiful woman named Amelia enters the scene, leaving Luke wondering why this complete stranger is so familiar, even though they’ve never met before. Belladonna deals with the spiritual world of human beings and that somehow we are all profoundly linked to one another.

Todd MacDonald, Kate Kendall, Katie Jean Harding, Katia Mazurek, Daryl Pellizzer, Pawel Samgala

I thought it was a beautiful film. However, I found it confusing in how it showed events--In one scene it looked as though the woman was going to be burned alive--it also looked like this person may have committed suicide eating belladonna after digging her own grave. At the end of the wedding scene, did the man faint? It's not clear what happened after that--one assumes the wedding was stopped? In spite of all this murkiness, I do recommend it. Another good film with a twist is "Dead Again" (1991) with Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson.

Love is Eternal and so are we. The question is do we learn the lessons of LOVE, do we continue to make the same choices//habits or do we break the cycle.
We make it so much more complicated than it really is, LOVE. LOVE is what we are, the essence of what every thing and life vibrates from. The dance of creation is powerful, it's miraculous. In every moment we might stop in our thoughts and actions to ask is this LOVE/LOVING, every interaction with everyone and all of LIFE. Yeah! LOVE...

This movie was perfect. The interweaving of his lifetimes and theirs in the triangle was very well done. It was not hard to understand with an open mind. :)

I agree with motherearth in that i understood the plot of the movie and what they were trying to portray, but i didn't like the movie and felt it was a waste of my time.

I also quit netflix.... nothing but violence and stupidity in mainstream movies... besides I watch lots of movies and burned through all the good ones. I agree I am in the right place now! :) yay for free choice. :)

I loved it. Great perspective on the cycle of repetitions and on the qualities we must develop to evolve beyond it. I also enjoyed the choice of music to support the dramatic scenes (Purcell's cold song from King Arthur opera - what a treat!).

Change is the evolving Soul through lifetimes. Frustration is key to understand what it is that places learning and connection in front of you.... Identification is brought on by the agreement between energies that come together and the completion of that lies between what is learned verses what still remains missing in any lessons within that agreement. 5 STARS!!!!

I understand the plot of the story, but it was very frustrating to watch. I understand that the man was a reincarnation of the woman from the past, but I don't understand why he wouldn't own up to his feelings for the woman he was living with. It was disappointing to watch him lead her along because he still had some feelings for her, instead of just telling her he was interested in someone else.

sometimes life is not a straight line, the character had to realize for himself what he was feeling

Definitely mesmerizing, but too dark for my tastes, and I'm not sure what happens at the end

Awesome movie, reminds me of Zorba the Greek. Has that same Greek lust for life. It's very engaging. The characters are great. The girl expresses an incredible joie de vivre and the film easily captures the viewers attention
