This practice is contraindicated for expectant mothers, and those with lower back or knee issues.

Many of these hip openers are really only good for the people whose hips are already incredibly open, and it was a bit disappointing that no options were offered.

That was incredible! I am not yet able to progress to the full expression of all of the asanas in this practice, but I will continue to try. Thank you David @pranavayu, as always this practice provided a beautiful combination of physical challenge and spiritual connection. Namaste.

@pranavayu that is exactly how I use this class, I was just surprised to find myself in headstand after thinking, "what the hell, I'll give it a shot, all I can do is fall over". My profile picture was taken immediately after I finished a lovely savasana and needed to share my excitement at finally nailing headstand. I love this class for the intensity of the stretches and the peaceful vibe throughout so headstand what just icing on the cake! Thank you!

Oddly enough, though not the focus of this video, your instruction for getting into tripod headstand is what made it click for me and finally helped me master it! Thank you! I love this class for days when I am still sore from intense power classes and the intense stretches really help work through the stiffness of tired muscles.

Oh 17 years!! Fascinating!! Do you believe in someone like who has started Yoga 5 months ago without any instructor or any creditable background of Yoga, Gym and etc... who has started with zero knowledge and stepped up to Advanced level in 2 months in that period? What would you say about this person, David?
By the way I also found you're generous enough to reply for comments here which is very kind of you, because not many Yogis likely do so.

@svc2381Hi Kumar,

I really like Manduka mats. They're a bit spendy, but they last forever and have a nice non-slip surface. You might also try scrubbing the surface of your mat with soap and water. Sometimes the manufacture adds a coating which seems to make things a bit slippery.

If neither of those options work, you might consider picking up a mysore rug. When you get sweaty, you can simply lay the rug over your mat. If you wet the area under your hands and feet with a water bottle, you'll slip less.

Hi David,
A quick out of the box question. I tried few yoga mats and they all turned out to be slippery especially while in crucial poses. Could you please recommend a non-slip mat?

Hi Ana Maria! Michelle makes a great point. Consistency is the most important thing. With this type of practice, it's important to practice at least two to three times per week to make progress.

My pleasure! I remember the same thing happening when I first learned this one. My foot used to slide off of my arm and I couldn't quite get my knee to the floor either. One day, it just clicked ,which makes me think that it's as much about creating new body awareness as it is about creating new flexibility - especially for someone like you who can already to the FBH pose. . Practice that bear hug thing every other day for a month or two, and I'll bet see some shifts.

Wow! That was really sweet of you to do that! I did it a couple of times, but I see that where I get stuck is just when I put my foot on to my upper arm. I can do this slightly, but leaning into my leg and trying to get my upper thigh on the floor is beyond me! Ouch! My hip says "No way!" It's funny, because if I am in a lying position, I can get my foot behind my head on both sides without feeling that it is too hard for me. I can also do it sitting, but I have to round my back a bit and hold on to my foot. Maybe this back rounding is compensating for the fact that I am missing some flexibility in my hip. In any case, I will bookmark your video and continue working towards this pose. Thank you so much! You are a truly dedicated teacher!

That was great! Finally, a truly advanced, challenging lunar practice! I loved it! I must admit, I thought my hips were pretty open, and I was able to do most of the poses, but those heel in the armpit variations - they are so far away from me! I wasn't even able to really attempt the poses! I am sot sure what I can do to open my hips to get closer to it. I felt like all the other poses were so accessable in comparision, and this one (you had 2 versions of it) was like way in left field for me! In any case, great class--interesting variations, good explanations. Thanks!
