I've been doing yoga for 20 years now, and I feel I get a lot from going back to the basics and taking the pace down a notch - the Connect class was a great morning practice for me, and your instruction and tone were great! I really think it's my practice of going back to a more gentle approach and basics that has allowed my practice more physically challenging postures to advance in the last year or so. Things I struggled with for years are suddenly available to me, as I'm more in tune with my breath and connected to my practice more fully than I ever was when I was powering through, only doing super athletic vinyasa style classes. So thank you for a lovely class - I look forward to doing more of your sessions soon!

Can someone please explain to me why there is so much talking by the instructors? It feels as if they have just found the joy and excitement of creative writing and love to embellish everything. Is this how Yoga is taught in India or other countries... or is it an American/Canadian thing? My brain feels over loaded by all the talk and instruction... Anyone else ever feel this way. Chrissy this is not meant just for you but you along with many instructors never seem to be quiet... Why is that?

After a year of ignoring my body and focusing on grad studies I am returning to my body. I tried a few other videos and became quickly discouraged. Your video was a perfect pace, with thoughtful explanation and enough challenge to keep me motivated, but not overwhelmed. Thanks!

I love to hear your inspiring words! I started last week with my first yoga class. it is a beginning class. I had different ages and they had different abilities. I am having trouble with teaching . I don't want to bore the young group, don't want to chase away the older ones that have trouble. Your class was very helpful, I will try it on my class. Thanks, I will listen to the rest of them. I know I only had 1 class, room for improvement.

I must say, this site has some of the nicest commenters that I have ever seen. It must be all the yoga.

Seriously, though, I had never really done yoga before, but when the January blues started to get to me, I bought this DVD with a Target gift card expecting it to be totally cheesy. I was pleasantly surprised, though, and I've been doing yoga consistently for a couple of months now using this DVD and other Gaiam videos available online. The workouts are challenging enough to feel like I am accomplishing something, but not so challenging that I'm not motivated to do them again.

i have been practicing yoga on and off for over 10 years, so i have to kind of restart as a beginner every time i jump back on the wagon. this was one the BEST beginner's practices i've ever done. also, i never could fully grasp what chuttarunga was supposed to look/feel like until i did this today. awesome!!

I loved that Chrissy says that we are practicing yoga right now as we should be. I always feel like I need to get the most out of a pose every time, so it's nice to hear that it's okay that not very day is the same yoga practice.

Chrissy's expert guidance is unparalleled. She prepares you for the poses from the ground up.

Great cuing and images to help us explore and deepen the poses- I'll be doing this one again.

I love Chrissy's attention to detail and how she links poses to flows. Such a treat!

I love this video. It teaches you the poses but also has the names of each one which makes it easier to identify and remember them. Great class.

Whether you are brand new and curious to try yoga, a student looking for an alternative to studio classes, or even a seasoned student hoping to refine your practice, Chrissy Carter's dvd is an excellent choice. There is something here for everyone. The sequences are thoughtful, creative, and accessible and Chrissy's warmth and intelligence shine through. I hope to see more follow up videos from Chrissy.

Now I have a DVD that I can recommend to my friends that are new to Yoga. Chrissy Carter is incredibly knowledgeable and a great teacher!

This DVD is PERFECT for anyone interested in beginning a yoga practice or a yoga practitioner that wants a refresher on the basics of a solid yoga practice. Chrissy's thoughtful practices are lead with clear, concise instructions making yoga accessible to anyone - regardless of experience level. As a fellow yoga teacher, I appreciate Chrissy's focus on proper asana alignment leading the practitioner through a safe, complete beginning yoga practice.

I stopped afte the first 10 minutes. Performing multiple sequences of down dog was fine, but then she went into plank. Plank is not really a beginner move. I recommend Rodney Yee's beginner videos.

In my experience this is a wonderful beginner practice. Chrissy Carter is clear in her instruction and her demos are perfect and this is a yoga DVD that anyone can try. I like this DVD a lot and in my opinion any one willing to practice yoga would too- especially a beginner! GO FOR IT!
